Magnusmode

MagnusCards is an innovative mobile app designed to assist autistic and neurodiverse people to gain independence in activities of daily living via step-by-step guides and positive reinforcement.

Each collectible Card Deck offers realistic scenarios to support inclusive and empowered living. Open works with Magnusmode to develop new card decks to best meet users’ needs, adapt text in easy-read and support usability and accessibility testing with real world users with a range of cognitive abilities.

The Problem

Access real-world testers with a range of cognitive abilities to increase relevance, usability and accessibility of an app.

The Solution

Open provides a group of Cognitive Accessibility Advisors to perform usability testing on Magnuscards. The advisors were diverse in age, cognitive abilities, and digital literacy. They were given access to the app on their devices and feedback was collected through our cutting-edge protocol. Open also writes the text that will be read by users when using the app to make sure it follows best practices in behavioural analysis. The text is then adapted in easy-read language.

Services provided:

  • Usability & Accessibility Testing
  • Easy-Read Adaptation

The Outcome

Open supported the engagement of real-world testers of all cognitive abilities who reflect the targeted market of the app. Our protocol also helped enhance the credibility, accuracy and relevance of the feedback collected from testers. Overall, thanks to the testing performed by our advisors, we helped Magnusmode create a more cognitively accessible product.
